Wow !! There's A Major Connection !! (Nietzsche && CP)

Nietzsche has many connections throughout the novel and famous philosophies, some of the philosophies that where in the wiki article were existentialism, nihilism and postmodernism. Especially nihilism, which in latin Nihil means "nothing", ultimatley giving meaning to the philosophy. His style and questioning of the value and objectivity of truth is seen throughout the novel, mainly in the main character Raskolinkov. His key ideas include the death of Godrecurrence and the Ubermensch, which I will later explain. Fyodor Dostoevsky‘s “Crime and Punishment”, is a powerful psychological study infused with philosophical themes, is delirious trip through the life of a troubled murderer. It deals with Nietzsche’s idea of a “superman”, a man capable to supresse his emotions and who extraordinary superior in thinking and above the moral rules that surronds the rest of society. The idea of "superman" came from Ubermensch, which Raskolinkov highly thinks of himself, leading to the murder of Alyona Ivanona. (a connection!!)  But as the story goes on he finds himself questioning his crime.
The guilt that tourments him after the murders of
Alyona Ivanovna and her sister, Lizaveta, and his recurring fainting at the mention of the murders serve as proof to him that is not made of the same stuff as the true “superman”. Which is also another connetion too Nietzsche, and his philosophy of enternal reoccurence.
The guilt that he feels is a natural part of being human and no matter how hard a person tries to claim that they can do a way with anything and " im a psycho, therefore i dont have any feelings" STOP, remorse has a way of sneaking up on them, no matter how strong and superior to those feelings a person thinks they are. Evidence of his guilt is the attempt to get rid of the stolen goods after committing the murder in an attempt to "smooth crime".

Yes !! Im Not A Psychopath !!

Many ideas come to mind when the word psychopath is mention, from listening to the "The psychopath episodes". It journeys these people who have no idea that they might be classified as a psychopaths. Which questions, Do people really no they are Psychopaths? This was a very interesting episode to listen too. It kind of gave me better understanding of people and what to look out for in a psychopath. As a future Child Psychologist, this really gives me a foundation to look for in the future in examinig childern. ( we all know that it starts young and eventually grows into a major problem -- psychopath ). So personally i think listening to the episodes was really educational and kind opened my eyes in a way.
Here are the results I've gotten when taking the Psycho-Test:
--This does not mean the person isn't a potential mass-murderer. They may be mad, they may resort to violence. A close professional or emotional relationship with even the most normal of people may prove to be a damaging, or at least boring, experience.

Pre-Crime Saved My Life !!!

There were alot of connections I seen in the short story "The Minority Report" and the article Neuroscience of Crime and the lyrics that were given to read, but not so much of Crime and Punishment. First, im gone start off by telling a little about the short story, The Minority Report, it is basically about "Precrime". Ways to stop a crime before it really happens. (law enforcements looking into the future stopping crime, stuff like that) One of the characters get accused for committing a crime before it really happen. So, he goes off and proves that he wasn't or didn't really commit a crime. Really the whole purpose of the short story is to mirror the way these events would play out in reality. And for the article that was given, it basically talks about how Neuroscience could be used to predict some of the things that go through a crimnimal mind when doing a crime. It also says that it detect brain abnormalities that could trigger violence. And what that is saying is that they can stop criminals from doing a crime or nowing when a person is going to do a crime. (Kind of like "Precrime"). And for the lyrics I really didn't find any connections to the short story or article, but i did find an odd comparrison to novel, Crime and Punishment. One of the comparrison that i found is both talks about murder in some kind of way. The lyrics talks about a robot (preferbably a women robot) that is crazy and kills alot of people at this school and C&P talks about Raskolinkov killing the pawnbroker and her sister. And there is also some connection in the article as well, when Raskolinkov reacts when being questioned or after committing the crime. Ultimatley thats when everybody start to suspects him, cause he kind of showing signs of a guilty criminal. Which the article basically tries to explain to use, how they know when somebody has committed or is going to commit a crime through Neuroscience. By there emotions.
Well back to some of the connections that I've made between the short story, the article and Crime and Punishment which where really none. Because Crime and Punishment kind of follows a killer and the consequences of commiting a crime and being a criminal. And the short story talks about how to prevent a crime before it happens by going into the future (Precrime). As well for the article too. And the "I Dont Like Mondays" song basically talks about Robots killing people at a school. Which I think is a sign to not make Robots in the future. Which can also follow under Precrime.

How can we all classify the end of a world? Desolation, starvation, destruction, supernaturals, and/or natural disasters? Well I personally classify the end of the world by natrul disaster, simply because the world was ended by the burnig of it. And it also could be a little of starvation and desolation. The reason behind me saying that is that the man and the boy has there own means of survival, but somehow seems to live off each others love. In the "Hollow Man", it talks about disaster and how war has taken place. And somehow after the war has taken place, we where still able to see the good memories after the war has passed through. On the other hand, The Road, seems to lack this. The reason I say that because the two main characters dont really reflect on there past relationship with each other, but goes off of the current moment that they have to endure. Some of the things that the novel leave behind is love and there desire to live. It also has some aspects of being a little judgemental and who's going to hell and who's going to heaven. But ultimatley in The Road, change is inevitable and that no matter how much the boy and man loved each other. There was no way of them surviving ( are they gone live ?? ) but from lack of human activity and natrual resources, who knows.

The Road: Part A !

Ultimatley the novel it's self is filled with diaster and a will to survive. As the boy and the man goes on a journey to survive, we (the reader) discover the love and passion the two have for each other. The quote I came across when discovering this is when the man says, "The one thing I can tell you is that you wont survive for yourself." Basically what this quote is saying is that without there love for each other, it will be impossible for them to go on and survive. Not to get off topic, but I think that the author of The Road put these events in the order he did, to give us a better understanding of why he still goes on. And kind of notice that when he put the scene, where he ponders about past thoughts of his wife, including the boy.
Another quote that I seen was," I've taken a new lover. He can give me what you cannot. Death is not a lover", this is saying that there is really no hope of living and that he is giving up on life. I personally think this last quote that i have choosen kind of forshadows the boys or the man death in some way. "You will not face the truth. You will not." Basically what this is saying is that the man has lost all means of survivng and has given up faith for his son. and that the "truth" is that they gone die. Which also means, THERE'S NO HOPE FOR THE WORLD ! ( I feel you Oprah ).

Final Chpter Of Brave New World !!

Benard finally becomes an outcast, when his two friends (John and Himholtz) leave him for a "paradise" island. They soon come back from there trip and John seems fustrated in the novel. I see this when he is moved by Lenina, but also don't like the sexual things that she does towards him, which makes him feel more shame. He also is heartbroken when his mother overdose in soma and dies in a hospital. Do to his fustration he takes it out the workers, by going to the factory and  throwing out the soma, causing a riot. As I was reading this, it hit me that the author put this factory scene in the novel to foreshadow, that John desperate ways and him wanting to save the people is going to lead to his down fall. So, John now the main character for sure, finds himself isolated from society in a lighthouse outside of London. He soon finds himself interrupted from mourning and grieving over his mother's death by the bad memories of the dystopian society. Which leads to him whipping himself and the thing that makes it worst is that he taped himself getting whipped !! So the tape is leaked and everybody in the society has seen it, even Lenina. The strange thing that caught me was when she started to cry. The wierd thing about this is that the society that there in doesn't feel emotions. Also this shows that the people in the society is capable of changing but chooses to not change for some reason. So, Lenina is moved by John's actions, but some how John turns and start to whip her. The funny thing aboout it is that this drives the crowd in a sexual way. Which cause them to have an orgy and take more of the soma. And John joins in !! The next morning John notice what he has done, which totally contradicts his whole belief of not having sex with just anybody and hangs himself.

Freeman Dyson's "Can Science Be Ethical?" Connection To Brave New World

These two writting SCREAMS connection. I see alot of connection between Brave New World and the article, like: the brands of science and their ability to improve the well being of there society. I've seen alot of that being mentioned in both of the writtings especially in the article. It also talks about how Henry Ford has became an influential part of what they do. And how his work develop mass produced consumer goods designed specifically to improve the quality of life of both the rich and the poor. In some aspects of the novel it kind of show recognition to Henry Ford for his contributions to the assembly line (which they are connected in some way). I also see that Dyson seems to use social classes to prove a point. For example, technologies that he described as simply being toys for the rich. And that these technologies are “evil” as they serve little purpose other than to make the rich richer and widen the gap between the rich and the poor. He also sees the the lower classes if not properly tooken care by individuals of strong character in positions of influence. Which Harrison Bergeron makes the Gammas seem in the novel, Brave New World.  Dyson ends his article with words of hope for the future, describing his hope that the future will eventually do what is right. Kind of similar to Brave New World, in how they plan to make this society that they think will benefit in the future.

Brave New World Review ( Chapters 1-5 )

While reading Brave new world I have noticed that most of there society contains Beaucracy and a little of technological control. Ultimatley making this a Dystopian Genre. I see Beaucracy when there society is controlled by relentless regulations, which means that the "people" couldn't do what they wanted or had any choices but the ones that were given to be followed. And I see a little of technological control when there society is controlled by scientific means. For example, at the begining of the story they make test tube babies from perfectly feterlizing the ovaries of women. Which gives more of reason for a feminist to dislike this novel (ussage of women). So basically there whole world is made up of test tube babies. And when made giving them a set of rules they should follow and live by, following back on beaucracy control.
A marxist critic would love Brave New Wolrd, simply because of the social classes that seperate the "people" in the story. For right know the main character in the story is Benard which is an Alpha, but lack the physical apperance (shortness) of an Alpha. He is also the protagonist of this Dystopian genre. Which leads to him questioning the existing social systems that are there and believes or feels that something is terribly wrong with the society in which he lives in.

The Brave New World vs. The Book of Eli .

Some things that the Brave new world have in common with the Book of Eli is the people that make up the society in the book. In Brave new world the " Gamma" makes up most of there society. And the "Gamma" are apart of the lower caste system and they also lack intelligence. As well in The book of Eli there society is also made up of people found in Brave new world ( lack intelligence and are apart of the lower caste system ). Most importantly these two titles share the same genre, dystopian genre: Brave new world people live in a dehumanized state and as well for TBE. There are many differences that seperate these two titles, which are the "people" that live in Brave new world are happy about there living conditions and not aware of how they were created, but in the Book of Eli they are not so happy about there living conditions. And tries to change that when one of the characters try to take the "Book". And also in Brave new world they see sex as a social activity,as in TBE they dont. The authors are basically saying that these people int his horroble society has no control over what kind of life they live, instead they are given a role and basically have to live it for the rest of there lives. I think the authors want to make this a dystopian genre to show us that the people that are in the story are in a dehumanized state and that it's always gone be that one character that sees different and tries to change it.
